Privacy Policy

WebP Image Optimizer ("the App") is a Shopify app that converts product images to WebP format. This policy explains what information the App accesses and how it is used.

Information we access

• Product images – The App reads your store's product media (image URLs, dimensions, file sizes) to identify images that can be optimized.
• Shopify Metaobjects – The App creates metaobjects inside your Shopify store to track the optimization status of each image. This data is stored entirely within Shopify's own infrastructure.
• Shop settings – A single shop metafield stores your App settings (quality level, size threshold, auto-compress toggle).

Information we do NOT collect

• We do not collect, store, or process any customer personal data (names, emails, addresses, or order information).
• We do not use cookies or tracking technologies.
• We do not sell or share any data with third parties.
• Image files are converted entirely inside your browser — no image bytes pass through our servers.

External services

The App is hosted on Vercel. API requests between the App and Shopify's Admin API are proxied through a Vercel Function solely to authenticate each request. The App stores nothing of its own on that server and keeps no database. Vercel records standard request logs for its own operation, which can include your shop's domain; we do not read them for any purpose beyond diagnosing errors, and they expire on Vercel's own schedule.

Data retention and deletion

All data the App creates (metaobjects, metafields) lives inside your Shopify store, under your own account. We keep no database and no copy of your store data outside Shopify. The one exception is the standard request logging described under External services above: Vercel records ordinary server logs, which can include your shop's domain, and those expire on Vercel's own schedule.

The records inside your store are yours and stay there after uninstall, the same way a note you wrote in your admin would. They hold no customer data — only image URLs, sizes and optimization status. If you want them gone, delete the Lafanzo Image Task metaobject definition and the lafanzo shop metafields from your Shopify admin, or email us and we will walk you through it.

GDPR & CCPA

Because the App does not process customer personal data, there is no customer data to export or delete in response to data-subject requests. Shop-level data is held in your own store; apart from the request logs noted above, we hold no copy of it, so there is nothing on our side to delete — see the section above for removing the in-store records yourself.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
