WebP Image Optimizer ("the App") is a Shopify app that converts product images to WebP format. This policy explains what information the App accesses and how it is used.

Information we access

• Product images – The App reads your store's product media (image URLs, dimensions, file sizes) to identify images that can be optimized.
• Shopify Metaobjects – The App creates metaobjects inside your Shopify store to track the optimization status of each image. This data is stored entirely within Shopify's own infrastructure.
• Shop settings – A single shop metafield stores your App settings (quality level, size threshold, auto-compress toggle).

Information we do NOT collect

• We do not collect, store, or process any customer personal data (names, emails, addresses, or order information).
• We do not use cookies or tracking technologies.
• We do not sell or share any data with third parties.
• Image files are converted entirely inside your browser — no image bytes pass through our servers.

External services

The App is hosted on Vercel. API requests between the App and Shopify's Admin API are proxied through a Vercel Function solely to authenticate each request — no data is logged or retained.

Data retention and deletion

All data the App creates (metaobjects, metafields) lives inside your Shopify store. When you uninstall the App, Shopify automatically removes this data. No data remains on any external system after uninstall.

GDPR & CCPA

Because the App does not process customer personal data, there is no customer data to export or delete in response to data-subject requests. Shop-level data is deleted automatically on uninstall as described above.

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
